In conjunction with its five Regional Charity Committees, Reuters Foundation announced a programme to ‘adopt’ five secondary schools.  Each school was adopted with the aim of encouraging Reuters employees to get involved in their local communities. Through staff involvement, the Foundation ensured close monitoring of the project with the added bonus of sharing Reuters skills and expertise. As the company is a major user of technology, the Foundation decided to focus on setting up computer rooms for the pupils, using Reuters staff to install the equipment.

During 2001 and 2002, the Foundation provided each school with the necessary equipment to set up a state of the art computer room. In addition, Reuters staff were able to maintain a close relationship with the school through activities such as running lunchtime IT sessions and teacher mentoring.

Our adopted schools are in London, New York, Beijing, Nairobi and Moscow.
