TrustLaw - Free legal expertise

TrustLaw will be a global hub for the practice of pro bono legal work, namely legal work generated on the basis of need at no cost to the client.

A picture of devistation and disaster

Within the pro bono sector, TrustLaw will serve as a forum for lawyers, accountants, governments, judges, journalists and NGOs to compare policy experiences, seek answers to common problems, identify best practices and coordinate domestic and international policies.

TrustLaw will thus serve as a valuable resource in key areas of the law, such as good governance and anti-corruption.

As a support service to all actors in the pro bono field, TrustLaw will link people in need of legal services to experienced practitioners.

It will develop country backgrounders essential to lawyers considering work overseas. It will maintain a database of legal documents developed in connection with ongoing legal matters as a resource to others. And it will develop a framework and guidelines to be used as a resource by non-experts trying to comply with new regulations.

Just as the Foundation's AlertNet service offers news, information and a community space bringing together professionals in the humanitarian aid world, TrustLaw will serve as a central hub for legal practitioners, accountants, journalists, judges, governments and NGOs focusing on specific areas of global pro bono legal services and law.

TrustLaw will offer information around "best practices", along with relevant global legal news, policies and procedures, country background reports and briefs documents shared by attorneys practicing internationally.
